President Donald Trump spoke following the congressional baseball practice shooting outside of Washington which left multiple people injured, including House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Jefferson Parish. Mr. Trump commended the actions of the first responders…:

The president confirmed the gunman, 66-year-old James Hodgkinson of Illinois, has died. St. Landry Parish Congressman Clay Higgins says that’s just fine with him and he wishes his colleague a full and speedy recovery…:
Cut 7 (10) “he’ll recover”
Scalise was shot in the hip and is currently recovering from surgery in stable condition.

The full House has taken up the $28 billion spending plan approved by the Appropriations Committee which spends more than what they proposed in the regular session, but still less than what the Senate and governor wanted. Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne says they want to see all of the money appropriated, but also let agencies know to hold back money in case of a midyear shortfall…:

The bill is by Representative Cameron Henry of Metairie, but is being carried by the Vice Chair of Appropriations as Henry is on his way to Washington to visit injured Congressman Scalise who is a good friend.
