The office of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise has issued a statement on the Louisiana Congressman’s condition following this morning’s mass shooting outside Washington. It says Scalise was shot in the hip and is currently undergoing surgery in stable condition. The suspected gunman has been described as a middle aged white male and police say he is in custody. The shooting happened at the Republican congressional baseball team’s early morning practice.
The full House is set to debate the spending plan approved by the Appropriations Committee which spends more than the original bill, but still less than what the Governor wants. Chairman Cameron Henry says he hopes their version of HB1 shows that the House GOP is willing to negotiate, but he doesn’t expect the same from the other side…:

The Department of Transportation announces a contractor has been selected for the I-10 widening project in East Baton Rouge and Ascension Parishes. They say James Construction Group, llc. will widen the interstate from four to six lanes east of Highland Rd. to LA 73, with Construction slated to begin in early 2018.
