The LSU baseball team didn’t disappoint in opening weekend. On Saturday, The Tigers swept a doubleheader from Army, then yesterday the Tigers took down Air Force 10-3. Coach Paul Mainieri says the ceremonies to honor our military and law enforcement were also excellent..:

In the big All-Star game in New Orleans last night, Pelicans star Anthony Davis had a whopping 52 points in the game, and the Western Conference defeated the East 192-182. With numbers like that, Davis smashes the record of 42 in an All-Star game set by Wilt Chamberlain in 1962. Davis earned the 2017 MVP honor.

Former Louisiana Tech Bulldog, Paul Millsap, had 5 points and 5 rebounds in the game in the Hawks forward’s 4th straight All-Star Game.

Louisiana Tech is now 3-0 after completing a sweep of Arkansas-Pine-Bluff Sunday, 16-1 in Ruston. Four Bulldogs drive in multiple runs yesterday, led by Brent Diaz who drove in three in the victory.

In the Tangi Tourism Baseball Classic in Hammond, Southeastern couldn’t hang on against Murray State and fell 3-1 on Sunday. The Lions fall to 1-1.

ULM dropped their series finale Sunday afternoon on the road as the Warhawks were handed a 12-4 loss by Dallas Baptist.

UL-Lafayette shut out Hofstra 1-0 yesterday. The Ragin Cajuns take on the Lions today. Tulane fell to Army Sunday, 7-4.

In the NBA, Yahoo Sports and ESPN reported during the All-Star weekend that the New Orleans Pelicans are in serious trade discussions to acquire Sacramento Kings All-Star DeMarcus Cousins. The deal would likely mean the Pels would bring at least two first round draft picks and multiple players from the current roster.
