The winter weather is hitting the states on all corners today. Mark McAllister with the National Weather Service says these freezing rain, sleet, and snow conditions will last into the night in north Louisiana. He says even though the storm will taper off after midnight, the danger will linger…:

Christopher Bannan with the National Weather Service in Slidell says south Louisiana could see the coldest temperatures we’ve seen since 2015. He says wind chill advisories have already been posted…:
Cut 8 (10) “Baton Rouge area”
State Offices are closed in 44 parishes and many kids are already out of school in the hardest hit areas. A winter storm warning has been issued for 5 parishes in Northeast Louisiana.

Two Washington Parish parents have been arrested after young children were found living in deplorable conditions. Chief Deputy Mike Haley with the sheriff’s office says the home of 28-year-old Jessie Hoyt and 26-year-old Kayla Hoyt was disgusting and the children were also not properly cared for..:

The Hoyts face 4 counts each of cruelty to juveniles. The children are in state custody.

The Department of Transportation and Development says crews are being dispatched where needed with de-icing materials and equipment to tackle the frosty roads. They urge motorists to please drive slowly and carefully in winter weather conditions, and be aware of black ice — which is visually hard to detect on bridges and overpasses.
