Governor John Bel Edwards leaves today on a two day tour where he will fly over the state coast then visit offshore oil and gas facilities. Edwards said in a statement that it’s important that coastal restoration and the offshort energy co-exist because the state’s future depends on it.

State Police say they are investigating an officer involved shooting that took place last night on the campus of Southern University in Baton Rouge. They say only the suspect was short, then he lead authorities on a high speed chase into west Baton Rouge Parish where he was eventually arrested. LSP says the suspect’s injuries are not serious and they are working to determine how this all started.
