Governor John Bel Edwards leaves today on a two day tour where he will fly over the state coast then visit offshore oil and gas facilities. Houma Representative Jerome Zeringue will be one of the lawmakers on board. He says the governor is very adamant that the funding reserved for coastal restoration will be used for that purpose…:

Edwards said in a statement that it’s important that coastal restoration and the offshort energy co-exist because the state’s future depends on it.

State Police say they are investigating an officer involved shooting that took place last night on the campus of Southern University in Baton Rouge. They say only the suspect was short, then he lead authorities on a high speed chase into west Baton Rouge Parish where he was eventually arrested. LSP says the suspect’s injuries are not serious and they are working to determine how this all started.

A high school senior athlete in north Louisiana is suing the LHSAA because they won’t let him play more than three years as he was held back in the 6th grade. His attorney, Brian Blackwell, says the student has a learning disorder and the block violates the Americans with Disabilities Act…:
