Two former Angola state prison employees have been arrested for theft, according to the West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office. 45-year-old Shirley Whittington of Angola and 51-year-old Deborah Leonard of Amite are accused of stealing 160-thousand dollars from an employee recreation fund. Both women turned themselves in to authorities today.

Republican State Treasurer John Kennedy is still leading the US Senate race polls, according to Southern Media and Opinion Research. Pollster Bernie Pinsonat says Kennedy, who polled 22-percent, isn’t far ahead of Democrat Foster Campbell, who polled 16-perent.

A Baton Rouge man is behind bars after he set his wife on fire in September, using hairspray and a lighter. Sgt. Don Coppola with BRPD says the wife of 28-year-old John Harleaux was seriously injured.
