State Police have released more information about the fatal shooting of a St. John Parish deputy who was killed by fellow law enforcement last week during a violent domestic dispute. Trooper Melissa Matey says Lt. Nolan Anderson was heard threatening deputies before they arrived…:

So far there’s only one announced Democrat for Louisiana’s governor race and that’s Amite Representative John Bel Edwards. On the Republican side, State Treasurer John Kennedy is seriously considering joining in on the race, and one political observer says he certainly has the resoures available.

An inmate serving a 34 year sentence for attempted 2nd degree murder was shot yesterday afternoon by guards after he tried a running escape from a work crew detail in St. Gabriel from the Elayne Hunte Correctional Facility. Twenty-two year-old Troy Watson was struck in the stomach and is expected to recover.

By the end of this fall semester, first-year TOPS students will begin receiving text messages reminding them of their obligations to retain their scholarship.
