There is a pro-Common Core lawsuit being filed against Governor Bobby Jindal by some teachers and parents, saying the governor did not have the legal right to use an executive order and a suspension to stop it. New Orleans Representative Walt Leger is hopeful the courts can make a ruling quickly on today’s lawsuit, because school is about to start.

The Bossier Parish man who was convicted of killing his estranged wife, then dumping her burned remains in Webster Parish has been sentenced to 40 years in prison at hard labor. The body of 46 year-old Annie Bond was discovered in November. If he lives that long, Robert Bond will be 93 when he gets out.

The body of the missing teenager from Pontchatoula who went swimming in dangerous surf in the Gulf has been found. Seventeen year-old Chaston Brown went missing Sunday around 4 pm, and his body was discovered. Authorities were flying double red warning flags on the beach because of rip tides.
