The LSU Tigers easily passed their first test with interim head coach Ed Orgeron at the helm, what will he do for an encore? The Tigers had over 600 yards of total offense against Missouri, but the opponent this Saturday, Florida, has much more talent. In this week’s LSWA Honors, LSU Running Back Derrius Guice picked up the offensive player of the week. The product of Catholic High rused for a career best 163 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries in the Tigers beatdown of Missouri.

LSU’s Kendell Beckwith got the Defensive Player of the week honor as he led the way in the game with 9 tackles.

The Special Teams Player of the Week goes to UL-Lafayette punter Steven Coutts who had a gross and net average of 48.3 yards on seven punts in the Ragin Cajuns’ 37-31 double-overtime loss to New Mexico State.

LSU and Southern Miss will kickoff at 6:30 p.m. in Tiger Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 15. The Tigers and Golden Eagles will air on the SEC Network.

Haughton Native Dak Prescott is a candidate for NFC Rookie of the Year as he has led the Cowboys to a three and one record. Prescott threw for 245 yards and two touchdowns in Dallas’ 24-17 win over San Francisco.
