Louisiana residents are now able to purchase REAL ID licenses today from the Office of Motor Vehicles. Once October 2020 hits, you’ll need a REAL ID to fly domestically without a passport. OMV Commissioner Karen St. Germain says in order to get a REAL ID, your birth certificate, social security card, and proof of residency are needed and they look similar to the current licesenses…

REAL ID licenses cost 13 dollars for a four year duplicate and 17 dollars for a six year duplicate.
Hundreds of Denham Springs residents who flooded in Livingston Parish could be forced to elevate their homes. Mayor Gerard Landry says residents should appeal the FEMA ruling through the city and then their permit staff will need the pre-flood market value of the home and an estimated cost of repairs. He says there could be about 900 homes below the “substantially damaged” line.

LSU Health New Orleans researchers found a link between certain kinds of cancer and sugary drink consumption. Dr. Melinda Sothern with LSU Health New Orleans says it’s recommended that people do not have more than three 12 ounce sugary drinks per week. She says there is also a link to obesity and cardio-metabolic diseases with these drinks. She adds one group of people is more at risk than others.

Executive Director of Keep Louisiana Beautiful, Susan Russell, says “Love the Boot, Don’t Pollute” appears on bumper stickers that will be placed on 12-thousand state vehicles and they want to get the message out to as many people as possible.
