A new book about the murders of prostitutes in Jefferson Davis parish is surrounded by controversy. Ethan Brown, who wrote Murder on the Bayou, alleges Congressman Charles Boustany may have been involved with the women. Brown says Boustany’s response to the accusation is included in the book…:

State Police say a woman from Bastrop died after being hit by a vehicle driven by a 73-year-old man while she was trying to cross US Highway 165. They say William Hendrix Jr of Bastrop was traveling on 165 around 12:45am Sunday morning, when he struck the pedestrian, 38-year-old Lela Brandon. Brandon was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
