Researchers say the 1,000-year flood that devastated south Louisiana last month may have been intensified by climate change. State climatologist Barry Keim did not participate in this report, but says in a warmer world, the atmosphere can produce bigger storms.:

But Keim says what happened last month is not enough to tell us anything about climate change.

Mandeville Police have made a second arrest in connection with the alleged rape of a 78-year-old resident at the Beau Provence Memory Care nursing home facility. Officer Becky White says 55-year-old Julie Henry was the Associate Program Director and allegedly knew about the reported crime…:

An attorney for Beau Provence says its management supports Henry and that she is innocent.

The Saints and Quarterback Drew Brees have agreed to a contract extension. The future Hall of Famer had this to say a short time ago…

The new deal keeps Brees with the Black and Gold through at least the 2017 season and it guarantees him 44-million dollars. The actual contract extension is for five years, but the final three years are voidable.

LSU’s live tiger mascot will stay in his habitat during home football games this season. In light of his recent cancer diagnosis, officials will not attempt to load Mike into his trailer. Ginger Guttner with the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine says Mike’s radiation treatment on his tumor has had a positive impact….

Guttner says unfortunately Mike remains terminally ill and has up to two years to live. He’ll undergo another CT scan in the fall.
