The illegal immigrant who was behind the wheel in a fatal accident last weekend on I-10 near LaPlace is facing new charges after a third person has died as a result of the wreck. Denis Yasmir Amaya Rodriguez now faces three negligent homicide counts and 41 counts of negligent injuring, plus other charges.

A study from Trust for America’s health finds Louisiana has the worst adult obesity rate at 36-percent. Louisiana Department of Health spokesperson Bob Johannessen says for the state to change this trend, it has to start at a young age. He encourages parents to limit TV watching for kids to two hours a day or less and more than one hour of physical activity…

The Louisiana Workforce Commission says individuals who are out of work or have seen less pay as a result of the flood can sign up for unemployment benefts through October 14th. Director of the Unemployment Insurance Program, Renita Ward Williams, says program can help fill some of the income gaps…
