The massive flooding not only displaced thousands of families but ruined hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of crops. Don Molino has more.

A New Orleans Police Officer was killed this morning when he was hit by a car and thrown off a 40 foot overpass. Investigators say 45-year-old Tony Mitchell’s car stalled and he was standing next to the vehicle directing traffic. Another car stopped to get into the other lane, when it was rear ended, pushing the car into Mitchell and launching him off the elevated roadway.

If you had uninsured property that was destroyed by floodwaters this year, you’re entitled to a refund of the state sales tax on those items. State Treasurer John Kennedy says it might not sound like much but people need everything they can get right now.

A multi-agency warehouse at Celtic Studios in Baton Rouge is taking donations for flood victims. Mike Steele with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness says they need blankets, cleaning supplies, flashlights, batteries, and new kitchen items, but right now they do not need any new or used clothes.
