That’s the sound of New Orleans music legend and famed clarinetist, Pete Fountain, who has has died at the age of 86, after battling health problems in recent years, including heart surgery and a stroke. This past Mardi Gras Fountain marched along the Uptown parade group with his Half-Fast Walking Club, as he’s done since he debuted the club in 1960.
St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating the fourth murder in the parish this year. Authorities received a call that a man had been shot on West Airline Highway. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact police.
The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a low-pressure system in the Gulf of Mexico, just off the Florida panhandle. The system has a chance of developing over the next five days if it remains over the water.

The city of Natchitoches and its mayor are being sued for not allowing the Sons of Confederate Veterans in Louisiana to display confederate flags while marching in last year’s Christmas parade. Thomas Taylor, the Louisiana division’s former commander, says flag-carrying members have participated in the parade for decades without causing any problems.
