State Police have arrested a Catholic Priest in St. Martin Parish on child pornography charges. Trooper Brooks David says 50-year-old Felix David Broussard was booked into the St. Martin Parish jail on 500 counts of child pornography. Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand says the man who was killed by one of his deputies last night attempted to shoot an officer, but 17-year-old Devon Martes’ gun jammed. Normand says Martes was shot by Deputy David Dalton.

The body found in a canal in Ascension Parish yesterday afternoon has been identified as 18-year-old Alex Rubio of Gonzales. Authorities are not releasing many details, but they have determined his death is a homicide.

Louisiana ranks second for the number of police officers killed in the line of duty this year, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. The report shows firearms related fatalities spiked 78% nationwide this year.
