A robbery suspect has been fatally shot by deputies in Jefferson Parish. Deputies were chasing after two men toward an I-10 service road and one of the individuals ran inside a newspaper, warehouse where he allegedly turned around and pointed a gun at the officer. The sheriff’s office says the deputy fired six shots and they say the man who died was armed with a handgun.

The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors has chosen former state legislator and attorney Rick Gallot as the new president at Grambling State. Gallot says the connections he made as a state lawmaker could help the university tremendously.
