Franklinton Police are searching for a suspect or suspects who broke into 25 vehicles that belong to members of the Louisiana National Guard. Maj. Justin Brown says they believe the thieves hopped over a fence where the cars were parked, while the Guardsmen were training in Slidell…:

The co-owners of a Lafayette used car dealership have been arrested for alllegedly stealing thousands of dollars in state sales tax revenues. Department of Revenue spokesperson Byron Henderson says this arrest is part of an anti-fraud initiative by the L-D-R and the A-G’s office….

Henderson says Shawn Calvit and Michael Vilchez, underreported the sale price of more than 100 vehicles and pocketed the sales tax difference.

Oil prices are currently trading at about $42 a barrel, a 3 month low. Associate Director of the Tulane Energy Institute, Eric Smith, says there is too much supply right now, and eventually we’ll see $60 prices again but there will be ups and downs along the way…:

The man responsible for last year’s Mardi Gras crash in Lafayette that killed one woman and left three others injured has pled guilty to the charges against him. Lafayette prosecutor Daniel Landry says 25-year-old Bryce Chapman is facing up to 30 years in prison and a state judge will decide in November how much time he’ll serve in prison…

Chapman was driving drunk and traveling over 100 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
