Oil prices have dropped to just over $40 dollars a barrel, which is a three month low. Associate Director of the Tulane Energy Institute, Eric Smith, says some companies have already started back up and are drilling thinking that prices will rise but the increase in supply pushed them back down. He says the number of oil rigs has increased for the past three or four weeks in a row.

14 Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies traveled to Dallas to donate 25-thousand dollars to foundations in honor of the fallen police officers who died in the July 7th attack. Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Brennan Matherne says the money raised will go directly to the officers families. He says they plan to do something similar with the other half of the money they raised for the families of the Baton Rouge police officers that were killed or injured on July 17th.

Former state senator and state representative Richard Gallot Jr has been named the 10th president of Grambling State University by the University of Louisiana Board of Supervisors. The board met in Baton Rouge today and interviewed former Tuskegee University President Dr. Gilbert Rochon and Gallot. Gallot graduated from Grambling in 1987.
