State Police are asking motorists to obey the “Move Over” law….

That’s Trooper Michael Reichardt. Two law enforcement officers standing on the side of the road have been struck by moving vehicles since last Friday, because drivers failed to merge into the next lane. In one of the cases, a Sterlington Police officer died from his injuries and a 44-year-old Monroe driver is facing several charges, including vehicular homicide. That incident happened early Sunday morning in Ouachita Parish.

First responders are preaching firework safety on this Fourth of July. Also, Laura Adams with Insurance Quotes says if you’re shooting off fireworks in an area that is illegal and you damage your home or vehicle, you are not covered by insurance. She says call your insurance agent if someone is hurt as a result of fireworks…
