If you’re heading to the beach this weekend for the 4th of July Holiday, health officials want people to know about beach advisories telling people to stay out of the water at certain sites due to high levels of harmful bacteria.

The St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case of a former Eunice Police officer on charges alleging he threatened to beat up someone he was booking on domestic abuse charges. They say Lt. Varden Guillory is accused of telling Heath Bergeron that he would “rip his head off” if he wasn’t in uniform, then charging the man with felony domestic abuse after ripping up the statement. Guillory was charged with obstruction and malfeasance.

People on both sides of the Texas abortion Supreme Court ruling striking down a law putting tighter restrictions on clinics are sounding off on the issue. Attorney General Jeff Landry says his office will continue to fight for a similar law in Louisiana.
