Today the Supreme Court ruled a Texas law requiring abortion doctors to have admitting privileges at hospitals unconstitutional, which might mean a similar Louisiana law could be struck down. Governor John Bel Edwards has been elected as the chair of the Southern Regional Education Board. Edwards’ Communication Director Richard Carbo says says K-12 education has been cut for in the state for the first time in a generation. He says this new position will give Governor Edwards an opportunity to find new ideas to improve education throughout the 16 state region.

An executive order has been issued by Governor John Bel Edwards to make changes to a program that gives manufactures significant tax breaks. Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Don Pierson says this gives local governing bodies have a say-so in how the exemptions are given out. He also says it requires companies applying to show they are creating or retaining jobs.

A crash in St. Landry Parish took like life a one-year-old, according to State Police. Master Trooper Brooks David says 24-year-old Bendel Williams was driving on Highway 182 Sunday when he ran off the road. David says the infant, Jamaika Johnson was not properly restrained.
