LSU’s first opponent in this weekend’s Baton Rouge Regional is Utah Valley. The Wolverines are in the NCAA baseball tournament for the first time in program history.

Louisiana Tech is in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 29 years as the Bulldogs will compete in the Starkville Regional. Tech will open regional play by facing Cal State Fullerton at 1:30.

The Ragin Cajuns baseball team will host Arizona, Sam Houston State and Princeton at the Lafayette Regional this weekend. UL Lafayette Coach Tony Robichaux says there’s three good teams coming to the Tigue, but they can’t worry about the opponent…

UL Lafayette’s first opponent will be Princeton, who they’ll face at 7 PM at the Tigue. The Cajuns might get a chance to play Sam Houston State, who is led by former Cajuns assistant coach Matt Deggs.

The winningest coach in college baseball history, Augie Garrido, has stepped down as the head coach of the Texas Longhorns. Alabama’s Mitch Gaspard has resigned after the Crimson Tide missed the NCAA Tournament.
