The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals confirm 12 new cases of West Nile virus in the state this week, bringing this year’s total to 92 cases. Of the new infections, three are neuroinvasive disease cases, all occurring in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Monroe police say a man shot his ex-wife’s boyfriend in the parking lot of a daycare center. Assistant police chief Don Bartley says 32-year-old Marlando Honeycutt had just dropped off his girlfriend’s kids at the daycare center, when Lemerick Christopher walked up and confronted Honeycutt, shooting him in the face and chest.
