Dock prices for shrimp are rapidly dropping and shrimpers aren’t happy about it so they’ve decided to hang up their nets this week. Disease had been killing many Asian farm-raised shrimp which raised the prices for American shrimpers, but that problem is going away so the price is dropping according to processors. Gulf Seafood Institute President Harlon Pearce doesn’t think not working is the answer…:

The Louisiana Shrimpers Association says they are in talks with the processors and they are working to figure out ways everyone can make money.

Deputies in East Baton Rouge Parish say they’ve arrested a former LSU football player for allegedly choking his girlfriend. They the victim called cops to say 25-year-old DeAngelo Peterson attacked her during an argument putting his hands around her neck and attempted to strangle her according to a report. Peterson was booked into Parish Prison on a count of simply battery and bench warrants for speeding.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that a 40-year-old Pineville man is dead after a confrontation with officers from the Pineville Police Department. Scott Carwile reports…:

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office says two people are arrested accused of burglarizing an evacuated home in Bell Rose near the sinkhole. The owner of the home told deputies several air conditioners were taken, lawn benches and other items. 40-year-old Billy Rodrigue and 34-year-old Nicole Gros, both of Pierre Part, were booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.
