The Pelicans played with heavy hearts last night as they ended Utah’s seven-game winning streak by beating the Jazz 100-96. Jrue Holiday came off the bench to score 21 points, and Anthony Davis added 19 points.

Before the game, the Pelicans learned that their former had coach Monty Williams, lost his wife in a car accident. 44-year-old Ingrid Williams was involved in a wreck near downtown Oklahoma City and the driver of the other car was also killed.

Williams was hired as the Pelcians head coach in 2010 and was fired after last season, despite leading New Orleans to the postseason. Williams is currently an assistant coach at Oklahoma City and that’s where the Pels are tonight. They’ll play the Thunder in their final game before the All-Star break.
