Warning labels on sugary beverages may keep parents from buying them for their kids, according to recent research published in the Journal of Pediatrics. Jeff Palermo reports…:

An autographed copy of the speech a student gave to welcome President Barack Obama to McKinley High School in Baton Rouge was stolen out of her vehicle, but cops say they found it and also made an arrest. The Baton Rouge Police Department says 17-year-old Keondrae Ricks allegedly tossed Che’dra Joseph’s signed speech in dumpster after breaking into her car.

Former State Representative Ray Laborde of Avoiyelles PArish passed away at his home in Marksville at the age of 88. Laborde was the mayor of the town from 1958 to 1970. Laborde then went into state politics where he served in the Louisiana House of Representatives. He was a lifelong friend and Commissioner of Administration for former Governor Edwin Edwards from 1992 to 1996.

Sean Payton became the head coach of the New Orleans Saints exactly 10 years ago today. So how much has the program changed under his team leadership over the past decade? NFL analyst Mike Detillier says Payton’s hiring, which came months after Hurricane Katrina, not only rejuvenated the team, but the city as well. He says there was a lot of uncertainty in whether the Saints would stay in New Orleans when Payton was hired…:
