The Justice Department announces that a former Mamou police chief has been sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison after using a stun gun on an inmate without provocation. Prosecutors say 44-year-old Robert McGee administered a five second shock to inmate, George Gradney, Jr., who was posing no threat at the time. McGee pleaded guilty in October to civil rights charges.
State Treasurer John Kennedy says the December 2015 Net Receipts Report shows total state revenue is down 15-percent from the same time the previous year. The report shows a drop in sales taxes, severance taxes, and corporation taxes. Kennedy advises legislators to be cautious in addressing this issue…
