The Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs is hailing the passage of Amendment One, which allows surviving spouses of disabled veterans a one-time property tax exemption transfer to another property. Secretary Charlton Meginley says the total value of these tax exemptions statewide is only about 168-thousand dollars, which is a miniscule number relative to the overall state budget.

Nicholls has a new jersey logo patch partnership with Thibodaux Regional Health System. Athletic Director JT Terrel says Thibodaux Regional is also providing the Colonels with sports medicine services, including a full athletic training staff, advanced medical technology and athletic facilities.

Cut 8 (08) “…student athletes.”

Thibodaux Regional’s logo will appear on the uniforms of all 17 of Nicholls’ sports teams.

If you’re going to the LSU game tomorrow, expect to see beefed-up police presence after fights marred their last home game. LSU System President Wade Rousse says while you may see a few more law enforcement officers on campus, he doesn’t want you to think campus is in some sort of state of emergency.

Cut 15 (08) “…shape or form.”

As for the game, former Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron, who’s now a special assistant to recruiting and defense, will be on the sidelines – but the 65-year-old from Larose said he nearly died earlier this year. In an advertisement, Orgeron praised the medical staff at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge.

Cut 12 (07) “…grateful for that.”

While Orgeron did not provide details about his hospital scare, a report by Yahoo Sports says Orgeron was hospitalized for sepsis, which is potentially life-threatening.
