SWAC play gets underway this week. Grambling will meet Prairie View in the State Fair Classic on Saturday in Dalas Texas. Prairie View is defending SWAC champions and they are picked to win the West again. The Panthers have won seven of the last eight meetings.
Southern is at Jackson State on Saturday. The Jaguars had 539 total yards of offense in their 50 to 31 win over Louisiana Christian. Senior adviser Fred McNair took over play-calling duties in that game from offensive coordinator Ken Merchant. Coach Marshall Faulk says it was the same offense, just simplified.
Kickoff in Jackson is set for 6 p-m. The Tigers have won the last seven meetings, including two conference championship games.
