Today marks 25 years since the September 11th terrorist attacks. Nearly 3,000 people died and thousands more were injured that day as terrorists carried out coordinated attacks on the World Trade Center in New York city and the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia. Trey Williams who works for the Secretary of State’s Office now, was working at DHH near the Pentagon that day. He says what he saw on his walk from work after being told to evacuate will stick with him forever, and not just the bad ones.
In the 25 years since the 9/11 attacks, anti-terrorism intelligence at all levels – federal, state and local – has become a lot more sophisticated. Mark Fontenot, the intelligence coordination center manager at GOHSEP, says everything is a lot more advanced now.
