LSU filled its final two available roster spots last night, seemingly ending its recruitment of players who spent time in NFL training camps. The SEC, though, is moving forward with its federal lawsuit against the school, with a hearing in Birmingham scheduled this afternoon. Attorney Tony Clayton represents the athletes and says it was his clients who sued the NCAA and SEC, not LSU.
While Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple says Louisiana’s still in an insurance crisis, there are some positive signs…as many companies have lowered premiums for Louisiana customers, which is why he is urging policyholders to shop around when it’s time to renew.

Louisiana is showing signs of winning the fight on reducing opioid related deaths. New numbers released show opioid-related deaths fell 59-percent from 2022 to 2025, outpacing the national decline. Louisiana Deputy Health Secretary Doctor Pete Croughan says one opioid-related death is too many, so there’s still work to do…

Croughan says the rate of opioid prescriptions per 100 Louisiana residents, a 10-percent decrease.
The tropics have not produced a hurricane this year and the record for the latest in a year without a hurricane is September 11th, accomplished in 2002 and 2013; and with no tropical cyclone activity expected in the Atlantic in the next seven days, we will certainly break that record. LSU Health Climatologist Barry Keim says there have been years with no recorded hurricanes at all, but those deserve asterisks.
