An LSU student is arrested in connection with an illegal gambling operation. A man told State Police that he placed multiple bets with 23-year-old Joseph Contente and started receiving harassing phone calls when he couldn’t pay. Contente is charged with cyberstalking, extortion and other charges.
The family of a teenager who fell to his death earlier this month from the abandoned Plaza Tower in New Orleans’ Central Business District is planning to take legal action against its owners. Attorney Cedric Richmond says the company that manages the building and the business that provides security could also be defendants in a likely lawsuit filed on behalf of the family of 17-year-old Jacque St. Ann of Belle Chasse.
