The Saints will participate in their final joint practice of the preseason against the Rams today. Los Angeles is coming off a 12-and-5 season behind MVP Matthew Stafford, so Saints linebacker Danny Stutsman says they will be tested….

Cut 19 (17) “…Orleans Saints football.”

The injuries are piling up for the Saints. Running back Alvin Kamara will reportedly miss a month with a knee injury and cornerback Quincy Riley also could miss a few weeks, which means Martin Emerson Junior has a chance to be the starting cornerback opposite Kool Aid McKinstry.  New Orleans will play its second preseason game of the year on Saturday when it faces the Rams in Los Angeles.

 

A Baton Rouge judge has granted a temporary restraining order to allow 16 football players to return to college to play one more season of college football. Former LSU defensive end Jack Pyburn is one of the 16 plaintiffs in the case. Pyburn is currently competing for a roster spot with the Tampa Buccaneers, but as strange as it sounds, this order opens the door for Pyburn to leave the Bucs and return to LSU or play at another school. The players who filed the suit believe they should have a fifth year of eligibility as a result of the new rule that says current and future college athletes have five years to play five seasons.

UL-Lafayette football coach Michael Desormeaux says receiver Shelton Sampson Jr. is progressing in his rehab but is still sidelined during practice….
