A Lafourche Parish man is arrested for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a child. Police in Lockport say 65-year-old Clint Chauvin was inside a store with a ten-year-old child when he acted strangely towards that child, including touching the child inappropriately. Police say Chauvin later lured that child into his vehicle before dropping the child off at the original location.
A suspect is shot by a Livingston Parish deputy following a chase that ended on I-55 in Tangipahoa Parish. Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard says the suspect fought the deputy’s Taser and turned it on him; and in his words, the deputy did what he had to do to survive the situation and shot the suspect.

Louisiana State Police are investigating the incident.
The race is on on Capitol Hill to avoid another government shutdown. Yesterday on NBC’s “Meet The Press,” Senator John Kennedy expressed opposition to a bipartisan deal which would, in part, take away President Trump’s authority to review government grants.
