Jaguar nation says goodbye to legendary Southern baseball coach Roger Cador as funeral services will take place this afternoon inside the F-G Clark Activity Center. Public viewing begins at 3 PM. The memorial service will take place at six PM. Cador led the Jaguars for 33 years and won two HBCU national titles and 14 SWAC championships. Dan Canevari was an assistant coach on Cador’s last three teams and says Cador was more than a  coach.

Former LSU star Paul Skenes has been named a National League All-Star for a third consecutive season. Skenes has a 6-and-8 record with a 3.62 ERA, but is fourth in the N-L in strikeouts with 119.

 

America will be tuning in tonight at 7 PM as the U-S Men’s Soccer team will face Belgium at 7 PM in Seattle. The two teams squared off in a friendly match in March. After the U.S. scored the opener, Belgium dominated that game in a 5-2 win. Paul Boron, who is a reporter for the Louisiana Soccer Association, says this American squad is playing at another level now.

Of course the big news, striker Folarin Balogun’s red card has been rescinded and he will play for the U-S tonight.

LSU baseball got another big addition in the transfer portal as Oregon right fielder Angel Laya (Lie-uh) is heading to LSU after earning Freshman All-American honors. Laya is a left-handed hitter who hit .296 with 14 home runs and 47 RBIs.
