McNeese State officially announced Defensive Coordinator Lance Guidry will be the next head coach of The Cowboys, taking over for Matt Viator. Guidry is, who played at McNeese from 1990-1993, served as Viator’s defensive coordinator since 2013. He’s popular with fans as his fiery pre-game speeches before both bowl games became widely-viewed his on social media. Guidry was fired up today…:

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association says they’ve completed their Bogalusa Sportsmanship hearing and will submit recommendations to the Executive Director tomorrow. Today’s discussion was about the fight that ended the Lumberjacks’ game at Amite High on November 27.

The Louisiana Tech football team has arrived in the Big Easy in advance of Saturday’s R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl against Arkansas State. Bulldog seniors have the opportunity to win their 31st game as a class for Tech. Head coach Skip Holtz says his seniors are ready to hit the field one last time in a Louisiana Tech jersey…:

The 9-3 Red Wolves are the Sun Belt Conference champions and come into the game riding an eight game winning streak. Louisiana Tech is 8-3.

In college basketball tonight LSU takes on Gardner-Webb, UNO is at UMass, McNeese State hosts LSU-Alexandria, Nicholls State is at number 18 SMU, and Tulane tangles with the 11th ranked North Carolina Tarheels in Chapel Hill.

The Pelicans’ five game road trip continues tonight in Utah. The Jazz pummeled the Pels 101-87 on November 28th, but have since been on a bit of a skid. Tipoff is at 8PM.
