The Jefferson Parish District Attorney has formally charged two former Destrehan High School teachers accused of having a three-way sexual encounter with a 16-year-old student. 33-year-old Shelly Dufrense faces two counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile. 25-year-old Rachel Respess is charged with one count of failure to report the commission of certain felonies. In April, Dufrense agreed to a plea deal in St. Charles Parish on a separate, similar incident that allowed her to avoid jail time or having to register as a sex offender.

Republican Lafayette Congressman Charles Boustany has announced his intent to run for the US Senate next year. He joins fellow Republicans Minden Congressman John Fleming and Col. Rob Maness in seeking the seat being vacated by US Senator David Vitter. With a large number of Republicans expected to run, Boustany says this race will be about ideas and about a vision for Louisiana…

East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner Beau Clark reports a record number in deaths in the parish due to heroin, in 2015. He says we still have two more weeks left in the year, so there is a chance that the number could go even higher…
