The state has been dealing with near record high temperatures in some cases and the National Weather Service says the warm air is bringing in the next big storm system mid-weekend. Jason Hansford with the National Weather Service in Shreveport says the squall line moving across the state Saturday evening into Sunday brings with it a threat of damaging winds and the chance for isolated flash flooding…

Former Louisiana Tech president Dan Reneau has been named interim president of the University of Louisiana System. Reneau, who was president of Louisiana Tech for 26 years before retiring in 2013, says he’s honored to have been asked to help out on a temporary basis…

Two high school state football champions were crowned Friday in the Mercedes Benz Superdome. In Class 1-A, Kentwood took home the trophy after defeating Haynesville 40-7. In the Class 2-A final, Kinder upended Mangham 35-20. Today … Lutcher and St. James will play for the Class 3-A title. Edna Karr faces Neville for the 4-A championship. And the Class 5-A championship game will have John Ehret taking on Zachary. Today’s championship games begin at noon.
