An agreement has been reached between Louisiana Tech and Conference USA that allows Tech to leave Conference USA and join the Sun Belt this summer. Terms of the out of court settlement have not been released. It’s been reported that La Tech would have to pay an eight-million dollar exit fee.

LIV golf has cancelled the golf tournament it was planning to hold in June at City Park in New Orleans. LIV golf is on shaky ground because its major financier, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, has to pull back on funding. LIV will reportedly pay back the one-million dollars it received from the state. City Park has received two million dollars to improve its golf course, and that’s good news for the golfers that use that course.

LSU baseball coach Jay Johnson says it’s possible Casan Evans will pitch this weekend against South Carolina. He was scratch from his start last Friday because of arm soreness.

The Tigers host Southeastern Louisiana tonight and La Tech is at ULM.  Northwestern State begins a two game series at Arkansas.

 

UL-Lafayette is in 11th place in the Sun Belt standings, just one game outside the top 10 that qualifies for the conference tournament. Coach Matt Deggs says the team needs to keep winning league games to secure a postseason spot.

The Cajuns begin a five-game homestand this week against Southern tonight at six p-m. The Jags have won ten straight.

The LSU Tigers wrapped up spring football practice Saturday. Linebacker Davhon (DAY-von) Keys says the team is focused on putting in the work to avoid repeating last year’s results.
