State Representative Kenny Havard, whose district includes Angola, says if Angola warden Burl Cain was up to no good, then he made the right decision to resign. Darrel Vannoy will transition into the top position at Angola on an interim basis. Havard says if allegations Cain had private business dealings with inmates are true, then his resignation was the right call…:

An Avoyelles grand jury indicts two officers on murder charges in connection with a shooting that left 6-year-old Jeremy Mardis dead, and his father, Chris Few, injured in Marksville. Norris Greenhouse Jr. and Derrick Stafford are both now formally charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder in the November tragedy.

The nonselect select state championships are this weekend in the Mercedes Benz Superdome. The first of five game starts today at 4:30 with the One-A championship game between Kentwood and two-time defending champion Haynesville. LHSAA director Eddie Bonine says for the ten teams that have made it to the Dome this weekend, it’s been a long journey to get there…
