Amazon plans to buy Covington-based Globalstar for over eleven and a half billion dollars to expand their satellite phone and data service. The company says they want to provide reliable service to those in remote areas underserved by current networks. Amazon says they will use Globalstar’s expertise, satellite network, and radio spectrum to provide that service to the millions that are outside available service.
