The 13th ranked LSU baseball Tigers fell behind four to one to Creighton, but the Tigers rallied to win eight to four last night. Omar Serna erased a two-run deficit in the fifth inning with a grand slam. His first collegiate home run. Jake Brown added a two-run blast in the eighth inning and LSU got great outings of the bullpen from Deven Sheerin and Santiago Garcia to improve to 13 and 5.

In other action…the Ragin Cajuns jumped out to an 8-0 lead and defeated UTRGV 11 to 7. Lamar blanked Louisiana Tech six to nothing as the Bulldogs had just one hit. Nicholls won its sixth in a row beating Jackson State 12 to 2, Northwestern State thumped Alcorn State 13 to 2.

And March Madness erupted last night in Lake Charles as the McNeese Cowboys needed three overtimes to get past UT Rio Grande Valley 84 to 80. Larry Johnson had 27 points and 12 rebounds. The Cowboys will play for a Southland Tournament title today at 4 PM versus Stephen F Austin.

The free agents the Saints signed on Monday will become official today at three p.m. when the new NFL league year begins. New Orleans’ most notable addition is former Jaguars running back and Jennings native Travis Etienne. WWL Saints sideline reporter Jeff Nowak says Etienne is a great pickup.
