Big baseball game tonight in Lafayette as second ranked LSU visits the Ragin Cajuns. The Tigers are coming off a five-game homestand where they lost to McNeese and Northeastern and they are not swinging the bats well. Catcher Cade Arrambide says despite their struggles they are sticking together…

The Ragin Cajuns are 9-and-3 and their pitching staff has struck out 133 hitters in 118 innings.

Louisiana Tech continues to struggle as they were blown out again last night falling to Arkansas State ten to two. That’s four consecutive losses in Ruston for the Bulldogs. First time that’s happened since 2014.

LSU men’s basketball lost again last night, falling to Auburn 88 to 74.

 

Tuesday night was a good night for Southland Conference baseball teams as all of the Louisiana schools won. Southeastern Louisiana thumped ULM 15 to 5 snapping the Warhawks six-game winning streak , Northwestern State scored 11 runs in the first inning as the Demons went on to beat Grambling 13 to 1. Colton Harrison hit a three-run home run. McNeese knocked off Southern 14 to 5 as Jairus Miller had another stellar pitching performance and Nicholls edged Tulane six to five as first baseman Caston Thompson hit two home runs for the Colonels.

At the Sun Belt men’s basketball tournament…ULM’s season is over as they lost to Old Dominion, while the Ragin Cajuns advanced to the next round by beating Georgia State 84 to 75. Jaxon Olvera had a career-high 29 points. The Cajuns play again today at 5 PM against James Madison.

At the girls high school basketball tournament…semifinal action…Holy Savior Menard upset top seeded Lafayette Christian 45 to 43. Pitkin beat Fairview in overtime 80 to 79 and Westlake defeated Oak Grove 46 to 45.
