Governor-elect John Bel Edwards has created a higher education transition team tomake policy recommendations on ways to improve Louisiana’s colleges and universities. CABL President Barry Erwin says Edwards is looking to balance tuition investment and state investment . He says the committee will try to find out where changes can be made in the high ed budget.

A jury in Ouachita Parish found the man accused of shooting at two Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agents, guilty. LDWF spokesman Adam Einck says the jury handed down the guilty verdict to 29-year-old Luke Hust after hours of deliberation. Einck says LDWF is pleased with the verdict and is thankful for everyone who helped get these convictions…

Hust was convicted on two counts of attempted first degree murder and a count of illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

 

A state judge dismissed the lawsuit filed by the Tangipahoa Parish School System in an effort to lift the Amite High School football team’s supension from the Class 3A playoffs. Legal analyst Tim Meche says he isn’t surpised by the judge’s ruling and courts across the country usually defer getting involved in matters with high school athletics.
