The Louisiana High School Athletic Association has removed the Amite football team from the Class 3A playoffs as a result of a benches clearing fight that erupted in a quarterfinal victory over Bogalusa. State Police say a man from Tennessee died after his 18-wheeler crashed into the trailers of two other mac trucks on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge Tuesday afternoon. They say 42-year-old Karl Lindberg was likely unable to avoid hitting the other big rigs who had to suddenly stopped due to traffic congestion on I-10 in Iberville Parish. Lindberg of Crossville, Tennessee died at a local hospital.
