LSU’s new starting third baseman Trent Caraway is a West Coast kid. He’s from Southern California and was named the Gatorade State Player of the Year in 2023 after nearly hitting 500 at the plate. D1Baseball.com released its top-50 college first basemen in the country for the 2026 season and LSU senior Zach Yorke landed at the No. 19 spot. In Yorke’s three seasons at Grand Canyon, he batted .328 with 32 doubles, two triples, 32 home runs and 157 runs-batted in.

The Saints announce they will play in the first-ever NFL regular-season game in France. Saints Owner Gayle Benson says the game in Paris will be significant as there is a strong cultural connection between Louisiana and France that dates back to the 17th century. Nothing official from the Saints, but a French outlet reports the game will be played on October 26th against the Browns. With the game in France, that means the Saints will play eight regular-season games in the Dome next season, instead of nine. The Saints announce this will mean a 10-percent reduction in ticket prices for season ticket holders.
The UL-Lafayette Athletics Department’s deficit has increased by more than $600,000 since last year, a review by the state Legislative Auditor shows. The review of procedures, which is done annually to comply with NCAA rules, shows an operating deficit of $13. 2 million compared to $12.6 million in last year’s report.
