ULM President Nick Bruno announces they’vehired College Sports Solutions, which is based out of Atlanta, to help them search for a new football coach. Bruno has also appointed eight members to a search committee, five of whom once played for ULM, including former team captains, Van Lambert and Pat Mitchell. Current nose guard Gerrand Johnson was also selected to the search committee. ULM is looking for a replacement for the fired Todd Berry.

McNeese State’s Matt Viator has been named the Southland Conference Coach of the Year. Viator has guided the Cowboys to a perfect 10-0 overall record, 9-0 in the league. McNeese is a number four national seed in the FCS playoffs. The Cowboys Wallace Scott is the league’s defensive player of the year. Scott leads a McNeese defense that’s allowing just eleven points a game.

Three Louisiana Tech football players have been named to the Reese Senior Bowl….Vernon Butler, Kenneth Dixon and Jeff Driskel. It’s only the second time in school history that the school has had three players selected for the Senior Bowl in a single year. The Bulldogs final regular season game is this Saturday as they host Southern Miss for the Conference USA western division crown.

The Pelicans begin a three-game road trip tomorrow night in Phoenix and there’s a chance swingman Tyreke Evans could see his first action of the season. Evans has been recovering from a knee injury and was expected to miss six to eight weeks. But if Evans returns tomorrow that would mark a five-week recovery. New Orleans is looking for its third straight win tomorrow night.
