McNeese State has an interim president. The University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors appointed Dr. Kendrick Nicholas since Wade Rousse was hired as LSU’s system president. Nicholas is a New Orleans native who came to McNeese as a football player. The longtime administrator says he’s seen the ups and downs at McNeese and went through the school’s most challenging time following Hurricane Laura in 2020.
Governor Jeff Landry appeared on WRKF’s Talk Louisiana when he was asked about the theft charge against former House Speaker Clay Schexnayder. The attorney general’s office is accusing the former state lawmaker from Ascension Parish of taking a 20-foot-long cypress board that used to hang in the halls of the state capitol. The rare state artifact was last seen in Schexnayder’s legislative office in Gonzales. Landry said he doesn’t know what to make of this case.

Some Allstate North American Insurance and Encompass Insurance policyholders make see their rates go down. Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple approved rate decreases of 7.6% for ANAIC effective in January and 15% for Encompass effective in December. Both are Allstate companies and are currently the only Allstate companies in Louisiana with approved rate reductions. Temple says it’s good news but there’s more work to do. His office also reminds drivers that individual rates are based on individual risk.
