ULM is developing a plan to hire a new head football coach. Coach Todd Berry was fired Saturday after the Warhawks fell to 1-9 on the season after a 59-21 loss to Arkansas State. ULM President Nick Bruno says their ultimate goal is to provide the opportunity for ULM to secure the best possible candidate to move the Warhawk football program in a winning direction.
The Pelicans are now 1-10 after losing to the Denver Nuggets 115-98 last night. Pelicans star forward Anthony Davis left the game in the first quarter with a shoulder injury. Davis’ status for tonight’s game at Oklahoma City has yet to be determined.
In college basketball, Louisiana Tech rallied from a 10 point halftime deficit to beat Texas-Arlington 80-68. Four Bulldogs scored in double figures, led by junior forward Erik McCree’s 20. With the win, Tech improves to 2-0 on the season.
Grambling State traveled to Columbus, Ohio last night where they were crushed by the Ohio State Buckeyes 82-55. Nigel Ribeiro and Remond Brown led the Tigers with 12 points each. Grambling is 1-2 on the season.
Saturday, Tech will make that 7 mile drive to the Fredrick C Hobdy Assembly Center to take on the Tigers.
A bit of a shocker in Lake Charles as Louisiana College upset McNeese State last night 73-70. Division III preseason All-American Anthony Gaines led the Wildcats to victory with a double double, 18 points and 15 rebounds. The loss drops McNeese to 0-2 on the season.
